Prohibited Content

Except for a factual acknowledgement of contributors at the end of the presentation, an entry must not contain any seals, logos, or language that identify it with particular individuals or organizations, including the sponsors. It must be an original creation that does not infringe on the intellectual property rights of others, including copyrights, trademarks, patents, and publicity rights. It must not include trade secrets or other confidential information of either the contestant or third parties.

A presentation must be suitable for use as promotional material by the sponsors. The content must not contain profanity, violence, defamatory statements, nudity, or private information of others. It must also not contain any commercial or political endorsements or solicitations.

To the extent that the presentation incorporates any work of others, the contestant must have obtained all rights for such usage, including the authority to grant certain intellectual property rights to the sponsors, as explained elsewhere in this document.

Presentations that fail to comply with the above provisions, violate the law, or contain content detrimental to the sponsors or the challenge may be rejected in the sponsors’ sole discretion.

Intellectual Property

All presentations remain the property of the contestant. The contestant grants to the sponsors a royalty-free, paid-up, worldwide, right, in the sponsors’ sole discretion and for the sponsors’ purposes, to reproduce, distribute, publicly display and perform, and create derivative works from the presentation, in any format or medium now known or to be developed in the future, including the right to edit, modify, format, or adapt the presentation. The sponsors will acknowledge the authorship of the presentation in connection with its use. The sponsors will have no obligation to publish or use or retain any entry material submitted, or to return any such material to the contestant.

It is the contestant's sole responsibility to obtain all permissions and releases necessary for the grant of these rights. The contestant also agrees to take, at the sponsors’ request, any further action (including, without limitation, execution of assignments, transfers, affidavits and other documents) reasonably requested by the sponsors to effect, perfect, or confirm the sponsors’ rights in and to the presentation or other rights granted in these rules.

Except where prohibited by law, entry into the challenge constitutes permission to use the contestant's name, city/state of residence, likeness, and/or prize information, without limitation, in connection with the use of the presentation without further permission.

The sponsors will not be responsible for technical difficulties encountered by contestants in uploading their presentations to media-sharing web sites or in otherwise participating in the challenge. The sponsors will not be responsible for the content of submitted presentations. Contestants agree to indemnify the sponsors in full for any expense, cost, or liability incurred by them as a result of any claims arising out of allegedly illegal content, including, but not limited to, any claims of infringement or other breach of intellectual property or other rights.

The challenge in no way represents an actual, implied, or inferred endorsement of YouTube, Vimeo, or other media-sharing website.

The challenge and these official rules will be governed, construed and interpreted under federal law where applicable and otherwise by the laws of the District of Columbia. Contestants agree to be bound by these official rules and by the decisions of the sponsors, which are final and binding in all respects. The sponsors may change these official rules at any time, in their sole discretion, suspend, cancel, postpone or extend the challenge if circumstances warrant, or terminate any contestant's participation in the challenge for violations of the official rules, law, or for engaging in conduct detrimental to the challenge or the sponsors. The sponsors may lock out persons whose eligibility is in question or who have been disqualified or are otherwise ineligible to enter the challenge.

The challenge is void where prohibited or restricted by law.
